Does Palin promote abstinence as the only form of birth control and sex education?

I ask this since both she and her daughter were pregnant as they walked down the aisle to get married.

Does Palin promote abstinence as the only form of birth control and sex education?
Yup. What kills me is that somehow, educatio is bad if it is teaching the opposite of what she believes. When I had sex ed, we were taught about STDs, hygeine, birth control, abstinence, how to make sure you weren't in an abusive relationship, etc. I had parents that were very open and would talk aout that stuff, but a lot of girls would not have known about there own bodies, how to protect and take care of themselves without that education. Once they started this type of education in our school district, teen pregnancies and STDs went down considerably. It's a shame that people think that if you teach a kid how to protect themselves, they are going to go out and have sex. The reality is that they were most likely having sex before, but weren't prepared to be responsible about it or even know what the consequences were. Does Palin promote abstinence as the only form of birth control and sex education?
She doesn't make the connection. Did you catch the SNL debate? There is a great line in there that Fey utters.

Marriage is only between 2 unwilling teenagers. It was something like that.

Obviously to me, that what she wants is the ideal. It is what we should strive for since it's the safest but life is funny like that in terms of not living up to ideals so it's best to adjust your strategy to fit real life.

Liberals are not wishful thinkers.

edit: Pro-lifers are controlling people. They want to control everyone to conform to their way of life. It's not at all realistic. Obviously they don't have to deal with the consequences of such a policy but doctors and nurses do. Ask them what they think about Bush's policy. There is a rise in STDs for teenagers. How horrifying. It's preventable to a large degree.

Ask the people in the know.

edit: If more parents knew how to be parents and were willing to do it then they have a lot of power to influence their kids. They can't do it though if they are too busy with their jobs and everything else. Priorities need to change.

edit: This is not your typical job interview. The government is involved in sex education or the lack of it.
Well, I doubt facts are your ';thing'; but consider this:

a) Has Palin turned Alaska into some kind of Religious State? Has she even tried, or has she managed her state according to its Constitution? (remember, she's the one with actual experience).

b) When bashing candidates for their beliefs, do you realize that it would be ILLEGAL to ask this type of question in a job interview? Do you know WHY the law prohibits employers from asking applicants about their religious beliefs or sexual orientation.

It is because the law mandates that the only issue regarding whether or not a person is hired is COMPENTENCY ... to judge that you need to look at experience and record...

You'll find a lot of your ';answers'; are just more rhetorical discussions of personal opinion which are, again, meaningless in a debate about actual compentency.

Now....are there any actual issues you'd like to discuss in favor of your guy?
If this is just a jab then it's tasteless, and I am as annoyed/scared that Palin could potentially be a heartbeat away from the presidency as anyone, more than most.

If it's a legit question, there is no evidence that this is an agenda of her's for the country. She hasn't tried to impose it in Alaska to the best of my knowledge.
Yes, in fact, she does. She is also a member of ';Feminists for Life,'; an organization that believes that no form of birth control should be used and that all abortions should be outlawed.
Also statistics show that you get higher teen pregnancy and STD rates with that type of ';education';. It is just another example of how republicans don't care about alleviating human suffering.
She should. I agree with her thinking that this is something we need to get into every school in the US. Having any other form of sex ed only encourages premarital sex and will increase abortions.
One would think that she's figured out ';abstinence only'; doesn't work. People need to be educated, yes even about sex.
Yes, she does. It's do as I say not as I do
Yeah she promotes it but is well aware that it doesn't work...go figure?
not true
