I am asking because I recently took myself off of a hormonal one because I was having some problems with it.How long does it typically take for a hormonal form of birth control to get out of your system?
That depends on what kind of hormonal contraception you are discussing. Birth control pills or nuvaring should wear off within a month or so or whenever your periods return to what is normal for you. Depo provera can take up to 18 months although it is generally within 6 months for most women. It really depends on the brand and type of birth control.
For me it took two months when I was temporarily taken off of it. It can vary depending on the pill you're on and your system.
Some people find that their cycles return to normal in the first month after coming off the pill. Others find that it may take as long as six months. It's different for everyone, but for most people, within six months, cycles are back to normal. For me, it took about four months before I had a normal cycle.
When I was first trying to get preggers I asked my gyno and she said a year to be normal again. We started trying and we got preggers in 3 months. So when I asked her about it again she said to get preggers it can happen as soon as you skip 2 pills but to be ';normal'; again it can take from 9-12 months based on your own body's natural needs.
