What is the best form of birth control with the lowest risk for weight gain?

I want to go on birth control but the only thing that is stopping me is the fear of gaining weight from the hormones. I am extremely health conscious and the last thing I want is to gain weight. I want to know which form has the lowest dose of hormones that I can take unless there is one that doesn't have any hormones but I don't want to use something that I have to insert in me. Does anyone have a recommendation of the best birth control to use? Thanks! What is the best form of birth control with the lowest risk for weight gain?
Stay farrrrrr away from the Depo shots. Over a 10 yr period I gained 100 lbs from it. I have been on alot of different methods. I would have to say the patch or the pills are the lowest for weight gain. What is the best form of birth control with the lowest risk for weight gain?

The pill is probably the best bet for you (perhaps lo-estrin since its such a low dose.) I was on the shot for 1 1/2 years and within 6 months of that time frame I gained 45 pounds. The patch would be another great option because it is such a low dose and you don't have to worry about taking a pill every night. Good Luck!
I currently take estro step. I have been taking it for a year and have had no weight gain. I highly recommend this pill. Whats also nice is there are really no side efffects. I tried other birth control and they would just make me terribly sick. I have not got sick once from estro step. The only downfall is that it can get pricey because some insurances dont cover it. I pay $60 a month for it because my insurance doesnt cover it.

Well if you're so concerned about your health, you should rethink using a pill form of birth control since there are many risks involved much more serious than weight gain. Tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant (that what the pill does so you dont release an egg/ovulate) is one, hormone irregularities is the major one. You should do some more research on maby a diaphram, condoms, or monthly planning when NOT to engage in sexual intercourse. Hope this helps. Get in control of your own health, do not count on Doctors that profit from your illness...

The best form of birth control is not to have sex. That is impossible. You need to talk to your doctor. What is best for one person may not best for someone else. The safest method is an aspirin. Keep the aspirin between your knees during sex and that will always work.
