Whats the best form of birth control available?

I have been married for 10 years so please...no abstinence answers...haha! I am looking for something simple with no weight gain and preferably cheapest route. I am unfamiliar with most except condoms, so please give me a link so I can read the procedures, etc. Thanks in advance!Whats the best form of birth control available?
The best form is what works best for you and your husband.

That said, I will mention the Fertility Awareness Method, since other responders are mentioning medical methods. Even if you choose to use some form of medical birth control, FAM can help you understand your cycles, figure out female issues, and even help you plan or prevent pregnancy. FAM on it's own can be used successfuly.

i personally LOVE the depo provera shot i do not have to think about it but once every three months just to put that into prospect for you that is only FOUR TIMES A YEAR i was really bad at remembering to take the pill so i ended up pregnant and i had problems with nausea and weight gain now that i have switched to the shot i do not have any of the side effects you should talk to your doctor before you take it to make sure that it is the right decision for you but here is a website that will give you some good info on the shot

I use Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, works great for me.

The patch is ineffective if you are over 180lbs, not that you are, and I have a friend that got pregnant on the patch and she's only 140 lbs.
Below is an article from WebMD on how to choose your birth control. Best of luck to you!
birth control pill. it's covered by most insurance and does not cause weight gain in most.
IM NOT REALLY FAMILIAR WITH ALL THE OTHER FORMS OF BIRTH CONTROL EXCEPT THE SHOT. I DONT RECOMMEND IT. IT IS A HORRIBLE THING TO GET, WEIGHT GAIN AND THEN WHEN YOU GET OFF YOU ARNT ABLE TO CONCEIVE FOR LIKE ALMOST 2 YEARS.
Take an aspirin and clamp it firmly between your knees.
not having sex at all
Butt sex.
I'd say the Pill. It's pretty cheap, and causes wieght loss as often as it causes weight gain. Plus, it helps your skin clear up.

There's also the patch, which I'm not super familiar with, but I know it's like the Pill except instead of one every day, you change the patch once a week. There's also an injection now that provides birth control.

Here's a pretty good site that covers everything:
I was on the birth control pill and it caused weight gain for me, I bled heavier and longer, and it was a pain for me just cuz I would forget every once in awhile to take em. Then I looked in to the patch. I weighed 175 lbs at the time and they advised me to steer clear of the patch because it isn't effective for those over 180 lbs. Even though I wasn't quite there, took their advise. So I chose the depo provera shot. It was wonderful. Get a painless shot in your lower back every three months, and not worry about it. My periods were so light and lasted one or two days at the most. I didn't gain weight and I never had any problems with cramps either. Every one has their own advise and beliefs on what is the best. I think that you should talk to your doctor. He can help you the most. Web sites can give you a general idea, but so often they contradict one another. Talk to a professional is you want the safest and most effective method.
If you already have a child then I suggest an IUD (Merina). I got one put in this past fall and Its amazing. No side effects, good for 5 years and I can have it taken out when I ready to have my next child. My insurance covered it and it took about 30 min to insert. Oh and the best part, no periods!!!! www.merina.com
how about just pulling out? its cheap but not always reliable.
the patch is great! trust me
