If you take it on time every day and totally keep up with it?Is the pill alone a good enough form of birth control?
Taking it every day at the same time makes it about 99.8% effective (that is the statistic for perfect use.) Not only taking it on time is important though, it's also making sure you do not take any other meds that interact with the pill (like antibiotics.) It is good enough (or about as good as you can get) if you're in a monogamous relationship. You can always use condoms as well if you're still concerned, and always use them in new relationships, and if you're taking antibiotics or miss a pill.Is the pill alone a good enough form of birth control?
Yes, but you have to take it at the exact same time every day. If you take antibiotics, you will need backup birth control or you will get pregnant. You must also be in a monogamous relationship, because you are still susceptible to STD's.
yes it's has 99% safety but no birth control is 100% safe.
i got pregnant well i was on the pill:)
98% if u trust that..... id use spermacidal jelly just in case...
no because women still get pregnant even when they are on the pill. it is not always the safest thing.
Depends on your definition of ';good enough.'; If you're willing to live with a .5% -2% (1 in 200ish - 1 in 50ish) chance of getting pregnant in a year, it's good enough. If you need to be more sure than that, you may want to consider additional precautions.
Most pills are in the 99% effective range when taken at EXACTLY the same time every day, making sure you never miss, etc. Remember - antibiotics lower the effectiveness; if you throw up after taking the pill, it could be puked up; if you have diarrhea it could get out of your system too fast.
TYPICAL use (that's what typically happens - including missed pills, late pills, etc.) is more around 85% effective.
So - the answer?
Only abstinence is 100%. (Too bad that's not as fun) :D
No, My sister is 6months pregnant and took the pill daily..
