if you can't think for yourself you lose the ability to make rational choices, and without that ability you can be controlled by anyone you trust completely. people need to question things. if they do not, stagnation becomes the norm. nothing moves forward. a small error can become a catastrophe if no one notices it getting out of hand.How is brainwashing a form of social control?
i should imagine brainwashing is very subtle. take us on ya for instance. we're here now, we're here during all 'unsocial' hours. we continue coming back with any excuse to do so. it doesn't matter how stupid our reason is, we're here.

duh think of hitler. once he got once person to believe and follow him everybody did.
