When will the generic form of the birth control pill YAZ be released?

http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/news/20080624/birth-control-pill-yasmin-goes-generic

The above link is the only solid information I could find, and I was just wondering if anyone had heard of an update? I called Teva's customer service and they said they didn't know/couldn't help me.When will the generic form of the birth control pill YAZ be released?
By the way Yasmin DOES have a generic out. It is under the name Ocella.....has been out for about a year or so. As for Yaz, it was released at least a few years after Yasmin, so it probably has at least a couple years before it is available in generics

Add, well i guess your link said all that......but yes that is probably about the most accurate info you can get. Exact releases of generics are not stated until within a few months of when it actually happens. The companies making the generics have to make them, get them approved by the FDA as being close enough to the original to be marketed. And it has to be past the time that the name brand company has the patent on the drug for them. The may be aiming for July, 2011, but that is probably when the patent is up, so as soon as they can release it. But there always could be hold ups, and FDA approval issues that push it back. But if that is when they are projecting for, i wouldn't expect it any sooner as it probably is patent issues up until thenWhen will the generic form of the birth control pill YAZ be released?
I haven't heard anything; since yasmin/yaz are both fairly new there doesn't appear to be any generics using their specific synthetic progesterone.

The progestin they use is Drospirenone , that may help you with future searches.

Oh, and the introduction of Yaz generics might be delayed because of the legal trouble Bayer (Yaz's creators) have gotten into... allegations of falsifying research results to make Yaz/yasmin seem safer than it actually is. There's a class action being brought against them and I believe they're under investigation by the FDA.
