If you had gotten pregnant on the pill before, would the doctor put you on a different form of birth control?

I was just wondering what the odds of someone getting pregnant 3 times while on the pill were.If you had gotten pregnant on the pill before, would the doctor put you on a different form of birth control?
If that pill has been that ineffective for you, you probably should consider either an IUD, or using multiple forms of contraception such as condoms, or a cervical cap, and a hormonal method. I would guess that the pills were not used perfectly for them to fail three times, since they are effective in the ~97% range with perfect use.
