No, I don't think that for a minute. If you had ever had a religious experience, then you would know that Gods words are true. However, even though I am a Christian, I don't belong to any organized religion. I feel that you can pray anywhere and worship God anywhere too. The trouble I have found with organized religion is they make up their own rules to suit themselves. Such as one group may disapprove dancing or another disapprove of musical instruments in church and still another disapprove of birth control. Yet none of these issues are in the bible so therefore I choose not to follow any particular religion.Isnt mainstream religion just a form of mind control invented by governments to control their citizens?
I don't know what country you live in but here in the United States, there is such a thing of separation of church and state, let alone our right of freedom of religion. We can worship any form of religion we want and not be forced to or persecuted for it. You are an Atheist, that's fine, I am an Evangelical Christian, that's fine too but don't ask me to try to prove you wrong when you've already judged me and my beliefs. On the contrary, you've already proven that you can't be swayed.
That's why Christians so avidly seek to suppress any symbols or expression of diferent philosophies. You know, constantly suing to remove symbols from public property, ridiculing others beleif systems, accusing others of trying legislate morality. And the scare stories? How about that global warming ?





I think the bible is like (at the least) like aesop's fables - parables useful for teaching children morale behaviours. Children are malleable to indocrination, that's why leftists are always seeking control of children. Indoctrinating them with moral behaviour seems OK, douchebag doctrines - NO.





Something that has lasted a long time probably has some value to adherents. Traditions get established because they work out well for groups that use them.





I'm not religious. But I'm alarmed at the way christians are under attack. And I'd much rather my neighbors kids were christians than liberal indoctrinated.





Every idealogy and philosophy is dangerous if taken to the extreme of trying to force it on others. Cults do that, or tyrants.(like islam).

During the Dark and Middle Ages, the 'king' was annointed by 'god', which meant if you were going against the 'king' you were going against 'god's' chosen, so you were going against 'god'. People who know how do manipulate others most often do it through religion.
I think that th Bible was around long before the government was ! But no I don't think that it is created by the government to control people in most places ! It did more so in past centuries , in this day only it is only in a few countries that religion has that kind of control !
Well, DUH! No one sane thinks the Bible is accurate. We can figure it out when we are, what, ten years old? It's kinda like kids first watching pro wrestling: after a while you can figure it out that it's fake. It's the same thing with the Bible. We know it's fake but at least the stories are entertaining.

Cultures that have created religions to control their masses include the Muslims and Hindus. Christianity, in its purest form, encourages free choice based on an ethical and love filled attitude.
If you look in history you will see that governments and religions have always been at odds with one another. So the answer to your questions is no, they are to different entities with the same goal of controlling the masses.

Mainstream religion or not all of them call you to make informed decision yourself. Seek the truth and the truth will set you free. How is that a form of mind control? Even Jesus said that the way to hell is broad and that the way to heaven is narrow (paraphrased). Religion is just that religion a set of behaviors or beliefs that a person holds to. True religion is this to visit the orphans and the widows against this their is no arguement. Mind control comes in the form of isolation, isolation is either forced or blindly agreed to. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandments were he said ';Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul and the second is like the first Love your neighbor as yourself'; So tell me if this is mind control tell me how. When you begin to believe the fallacies and traditions of men instead of seeking and believing the truth of God then you are stripped of your freedom and have given up your control. In your finite wisdom you have generalized religion without any specifics in it. If your argument had any validity to it you would be specific. You say mainstream religion but you only focus on monotheistic religion. The only mainstream religion that I am familiar with is the Media, people often listen and idolize things on tv or the internet then they ever do with any ';mainstream'; God. No mainstream religion is not a form of mind control because they don't have andy minds that they are controlling, what they have is complacency and lack of devotion.
