How might the belief in reincarnation provide a form of social control?

Karma goes hand in hand with it. So you would try to be nicer to others so that in your next life people treat you the way you treated them in this one:)How might the belief in reincarnation provide a form of social control?
Here's an idea... if people believed in reincarnation, they would think that when they died they could come back as anything, so they would have respect for all forms of life. This respect of life would keep them from killing/harming people and other forms of life, making it a form of social control. Hope that makes sense...How might the belief in reincarnation provide a form of social control?
Greater motivation to make the world a better place, if you know your next live(s) will benefit.

Beliefs do absolutely nothing, for the reality of it.

Because of the belief that if one leads a good life in this life, then when reincarnated the person may have a much better position, be wealthier, happier, etc.
If you believe that you will be reincarnated into something good, you'll want to BE good in life to receive the reward. Just like a parent, a community could begin swaying what is considered good and you'd follow it. You may not even question it, even tho you don't wholeheartedly agree. It would just become the way you live. If you think about it, some churches are kind of like that.
it choose your caste for you.

and there wasn't arguing about who belonged where becasue you were just born as you were.
