I have used:
Coitus interruptus (or ';pulling out'; - highly NOT recommended)
Condoms
BCPs (the pill)
Sponge
Contraceptive foam
Contraceptive film
NuvaRing
Mirena IUD
My absolute #1 by far favorite is my IUD, which I still have. Ideally they prefer if you've already been pregnant, but I haven't been and my doc was perfectly OK with putting one in for me, and it's been fantastic ever since. I don't even have periods anymore. It's good for 3 more years and only cost $100 with insurance.
My second favorite was the NuvaRing. It only needed to be dealt with once a week and had very few side effects. The downside was that the extras had to be stored in the fridge and my boyfriend could feel it while we were having sex, and I didn't feel comfortable taking it out for sex, although you can as long as you remember to put it right back.
Both of these methods require you to be comfortable with your body. You have to check your IUD string every once in a while and you have to insert and remove the ring weekly. You can skip periods with the ring by ';stacking'; them (using them for weeks without a ';skip'; week.)
The pill was OK but I didn't like all those hormones and they made me gain weight. :P NuvaRing and Mirena have hormones but at a fraction of the amount of the pill. With the IUD, you don't have to remember to do anything at all, and NuvaRing has very little to do.What is the best form of birth control do you reccomend?
go with the shot ( depo) you dont have to worrie about condoms, pills that have to be taken every day at the same time, or non of that BS about having a period, but its up to you, but if u decide to go on the shot do it 6 month before you get married so your body doesn't freak out on it,and watch what you eat too with some peps it makes em gain lots of weight, or makes there body go freaking crazy cuz of the hormones in the shot. but its very diffrant with other people,
but the grate thing about the thing about the shot, no period ! ! and u only get poked in your ***/ hip every 3 months,
You need to discuss this with your doctor. Depending on other aspects of your life (other medications, high blood pressure, PMS symptoms, when you do want to concieve, etc) will depend on what they will prescribe. I am currently using Nuva Ring continously (so I do not have a period) and I really like it. I gained a LOT of weight on Depo Provera, as do many women. But when it all comes down to it, ask your doctor what he or she recommeds for you.
Honestly, I'd go with a condom and some spermicide, if you want to feel extra safe. It only takes a second to put on, and it's kind of sexy, so it won't slow you down or lessen the mood.
Pills can be dangerous; they can cause blood clots, and it's just not good to mess with your body chemistry that way. Plus, they can make you gain weight or grow hair in places you may not want hair.
I'm not sure about Deepo and other shots; but it's still best to check with your doctor and see what is best for you. Even spermicide can be irritating; it was for me. Condoms really are very effective.
Natural Family Planning is wonderful. I would recommend a class in that. My fiance and I were required to take one as part of our marriage prep, and it seems like a great way to do it. Unfortunately, I put in an IUD like the week before we started that. My IUD lasts 5 years, and I really like it. I could have it removed, but I won't unless it causes problems. I haven't had a period since I got it...or cramps or anything. IUDs are making a comeback, and they're nothing like they were 20 years ago. I have Mirena.
go on the pill....that way you dont have to worry about stopping in the moment to put on a condom or what not and its the most effective method. I would recommend starting it a few months before the wedding so it gets in your system and you can make sure its the right pill for you.
I think this is something you should discuss with your doctor. No one here knows your medical history, or your family's history.
Your doctor can talk to you about the pros and cons with each one, and then together you can make the decision.
I hope you have a happy marriage!
This is a great question for you and your doctor to discuss.
Most people here are not M.D.'s and do not know your health history or what would be best for you.
BTW- Birth control pills take at least one month to work.
get the shot because ur not going to want to think about the pill on ur honey moon. remember it takes a while for birth control to work. so see your doctor and ask all kinds of questions and look them up on the Internet.
I use Yaz and it is amazing. It takes your period away, and makes you happier because of a special hormone they put in it. I recommend it to anyone.
birth control pills are the best in my opinion.
I use seasonale, which gives you a period once every 3 months and I've been totally happy with it!
Not everyone loves it but I love depo provera. That shot every three months has taken away my period and I do not have to worry about taking a pill.
definitely get on the birth control pill
The pill. Go see your gynocologist.
i used the depo-provera shot. it worked well for me.
The pill
have no sex 100% safe.
i would not recommend any until you have read up on it completely most cause fibroid tumors on your ovaries and that can cause problems when you do want to have kids use a condom
abstinence
let him blow it in your mouth or on your boobs
